“The Cumberland in Eastbourne retains echoes of Victorian seaside elegance, offering a change from more generic modern hotels. Its location puts guests within a short walk of the pier, with sea views from many rooms, even on the side of the building. Wonderful stay with great service

I appreciated the excellent location. I noticed the 1930s art deco features inside. The staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful . The public areas were spacious. They felt relaxed and comfortable with those sea views.
My room felt a little dusty when I arrived, and housekeeping was inconsistent throughout my stay.

The staff were pleasant. The bedroom looked newly decorated. The position of the hotel is perfect. It is on the sea front across from the beach. It is a short walk from the station.
My room was noisy I could hear guests next door most of the night. The floorboards creaked. The building looked a little run down and is crying out for a paint job.

The cleaner prepared the room well. I thought it was good. The entire process looked seamless and all staff were helpful.
The floorboards creaked a lot. This made the room noisy. The creaking upstairs made sleeping difficult. I think the hotel needs a general overhaul.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions. i wish i had this experience in other parts of the uk. the beds are beautifully super clean and cozy, and i slept soundly. the sea view charmed me. We loved it.
My room needed modernisation. The drawers were old and needed replacing. the bathroom was compact, a large person might struggle to use it. the shower was old, with the shower head fitted halfway along the wall.

The hotel served a breakfast buffet. It offered cereals, toast, fruit, and yoghurt. the bar served beers, wines, and spirits at reasonable prices. the service at breakfast was excellent.

Acceptable stay by the sea

My room had a good size. I appreciated the cleanliness of the room. The location is very close to the beach, which I found very convenient.
The furniture looked a bit old. The floorboards in my room were quite creaky. I found only three electrical points in the room. This was rather limiting.
